tvusage Remote is a companion app and web service for parents and guardians who use tvusage on an Android TV or Google TV device. It lets a parent or guardian view synced screen-time information, manage linked devices, update parental-control settings, respond to remote PIN requests, and use related account features.
tvusage Remote is not the child-device monitoring service itself. The Remote app does not request Android Usage Stats access, Accessibility Service access, display-over-other-apps access, boot-start permissions, or a foreground monitoring service permission.
Who Should Use tvusage Remote
tvusage Remote is intended for parents and legal guardians who manage their own family's tvusage setup.
By using tvusage Remote, you confirm that:
- You are the parent or legal guardian responsible for the linked child device.
- You have the legal authority to view and manage the linked device's screen-time data and parental-control settings.
- You understand that tvusage Remote displays and manages data synced from the tvusage app installed on the linked TV device.
tvusage Remote must not be used to monitor or control another adult's device, including a spouse, partner, employee, or any other person.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, sign in, verify your email address, reset your password, contact support, or request deletion, we may collect:
- Your email address.
- Your account display name.
- Authentication and session information.
- Email verification and password reset request details.
- Support and deletion request details, including the information you include in your email.
Local Secure Storage
If you sign in, tvusage Remote may store information locally on your device or browser so the app can keep you signed in and provide account features. This may include:
- Your email address.
- Your password, when saved by the app for persisted sign-in.
- Login timestamp.
- Push notification token or push target identifier.
- Selected device preference.
- Biometric or device-lock preference.
On supported mobile platforms, this information is stored using secure app storage where available. On the web version, browser storage may be used.
Linked Device and Usage Data
tvusage Remote displays and manages data synced from the tvusage app on your linked TV device. This may include:
- Linked TV device identifiers.
- Device names and custom names.
- Installed app names and package identifiers.
- App usage dates and usage durations.
- Last updated timestamps.
- App lock, unlock, and refresh commands.
- Remote PIN request identifiers, device names, and request messages.
- Profile and configuration files, including screen-time rules, app groups, locked apps, blocked apps, unlimited apps, usage-hour schedules, and PIN-related profile settings.
This data is used to provide the remote management features requested by the parent or guardian.
Subscription and Referral Data
tvusage Remote may access account preference fields related to subscriptions and purchases so it can show the correct feature access level. These may include product identifiers, subscription tier indicators, and recent linked-device purchase sync information.
If you use referral features, we may process referral codes, referrer email addresses, referee email addresses, and claim/share counts.
Analytics, Diagnostics, and Crash Data
We use analytics and diagnostics tools to understand app performance, improve features, diagnose crashes, and maintain service reliability. This may include:
- App lifecycle and navigation events.
- Device, browser, operating system, and app version information.
- Crash reports, stack traces, logs, timestamps, and related diagnostic data.
- Product usage events.
- Identifiers used by analytics, diagnostics, messaging, or app platform services.
We use this information to maintain and improve tvusage Remote, troubleshoot problems, and protect the service from misuse.
Push Notification Data
If notifications are enabled on a supported platform, tvusage Remote may request notification permission and register a push token or push target with our backend. This is used to deliver service-related notifications for remote management features.
You can disable notifications in the app or in your device settings. If notifications are disabled, notification-dependent features may not work or may work with reduced functionality.
Biometric or Device Authentication
On supported devices, tvusage Remote may let you enable biometric or device authentication to lock access to the app. Biometric authentication is handled by the device operating system. tvusage Remote stores only whether this protection is enabled; it does not collect or store your fingerprint, face, or biometric template.
How We Use Information
We use collected and synced information to:
- Create, authenticate, and manage your account.
- Verify your email address and help you reset your password.
- Show linked devices and synced usage information.
- Let you lock or unlock devices and apps where supported.
- Refresh synced usage data.
- Manage profile/configuration files used by tvusage.
- Respond to remote PIN requests.
- Show subscription status and feature access.
- Provide referral features.
- Send service-related notifications when enabled.
- Provide support and process deletion or device-removal requests.
- Diagnose crashes, fix errors, measure reliability, and improve the service.
- Detect misuse, protect users, and comply with legal obligations.
AI Insights and Sharing
tvusage Remote may offer an AI Insights feature that prepares recent usage data as a prompt for sharing. When you use this feature, the app formats selected usage data and opens your device's share sheet.
tvusage Remote does not send that AI prompt to an AI provider by itself. If you choose to share the prompt with Gemini, Claude, ChatGPT, or another AI service, that third-party service will process the data under its own terms and privacy policy. You are responsible for deciding whether to share the prompt and which service to share it with.
Third-Party Services
tvusage Remote uses third-party service providers to operate, secure, analyze, and improve the service. These providers may process information as needed to perform services for us.
Services used by tvusage Remote include:
- Appwrite, for authentication, backend APIs, account operations, database storage, cloud functions, storage, and push target management.
- Firebase Analytics, for app analytics.
- Firebase Crashlytics, for crash reporting and diagnostics.
- Firebase Remote Config, for remote configuration values such as maintenance messages, feature flags, update checks, and prompt templates.
- Firebase Messaging, for push notification tokens and notification delivery.
- PostHog, for product analytics, app lifecycle events, navigation analytics, and surveys.
- Google Play or app platform services, where applicable for app distribution, platform features, or purchase/subscription- related account data.

Data Storage and Security
Remote app data is transmitted to our backend over encrypted connections. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect account data, synced data, and diagnostic information.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep account information and synced remote-management data while your account is active or while needed to provide the service.
You can request deletion of your tvusage Remote account and associated server-side data by emailing support@tvusage.app. Send the request from your registered email address whenever possible, or clearly include the email address registered to your tvusage Remote account.
We may ask you to verify your identity before deletion. Permanent account deletion may take up to five business days after verification. Some limited records may be retained where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or accounting reasons.
Uninstalling the app, signing out, disabling notifications, or removing local browser/app data does not automatically delete your tvusage Remote account or server-side data.
To remove one linked TV device without deleting your whole account, email support@tvusage.app and include your registered email address and the TV Device ID.
Children's Privacy
tvusage Remote is intended for use by parents and guardians, not children.
tvusage Remote does not ask children to create accounts or directly provide personal information. The app may display usage and parental-control data synced from a child's linked TV device under the authority and consent of the parent or guardian.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, contact support@tvusage.app and we will review the request.
Links to Other Sites and Apps
tvusage Remote may link to external websites, email clients, app stores, social media pages, AI tools, or other third-party services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or policies of third-party sites or services. Review their privacy policies before sharing information with them.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date.
